Accreditation/Authorisation

The Mission Statement drives all that is undertaken at ISB. To achieve this, accreditation and authorisation agencies are regularly invited to ISB to ensure that appropriate and rigorous standards set by the organisations are met.

ISB is accredited by:

• Council of International Schools (CIS)
• New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)

To ensure that the programmes implemented meet the standards established by the IB, ISB undergoes regular evaluation visits by the IB. A full re-accreditation takes place every 10 years with a 5-year interim evaluation visit. ISB is authorised by the International Baccalaureate (IB) to offer the 3 IB Programmes.

The value of accreditation and authorisation to ISB demonstrates that:

• The School is devoted to its mission. It cares enough about what it does to seek validation by a recognised accreditation authority;
• The School knows itself. It has thought deeply about the services it offers to students, family and community;
• The School is student-oriented. Its philosophy of education is suitable for the students and encompasses the development of the whole individual;
• The School keeps its promises. It promises only what it can deliver;
• The School accepts objective assessment. It is prepared to open its doors periodically to regular evaluation by the school community and by external experienced evaluators;
• The School is constantly seeking to improve its performance in curricular and other areas;
• The School plans for the future. As part of the on-going nature of the evaluation process, accredited schools are continually planning future developments.

Accreditation has value for all members of the school community as it provides:

• Encouragement for self-reflection and improvement;
• Recognition by colleges and universities;
• Assistance with the university entry process;
• External confirmation to parents and staff that standards have been met;
• Benchmarking against other schools;
• Ease in recruitment and retainment of qualified professionals;
• Financial security of the School.
