ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL BASEL
What is the AISB?
The Association of International School Basel (AISB) is a major shareholder in ISBR AG – the not-for-profit company that operates the School. The AISB exists to support the mission of the School in promoting international understanding, cultural awareness, tolerance and respect and to encourage informal interaction between parents and teachers of the School.
One of the purposes of the AISB is to foster collaboration between its members (being parents, legal guardians, teachers and employees of ISB) and the ISB Board of Directors in their shared objective of delivering a quality education to students.
Our collaboration is fostered primarily through the selection from the AISB membership of AISB representatives to the ISBR AG Board of Directors and the AISB Shareholder Representative.
As a parent or employee of the International School of Basel you are automatically a member of the AISB, the major shareholder of the ISBR AG. There is no fee for membership.
Currently, the AISB is the largest shareholder in the company. Board members who have been nominated by the AISB and are elected, are able to sit on the Board of the ISBR AG and play an active role in the strategic development of the School.
The AISB Committee is an elected group of parent volunteers.
The AISB works to finance valuable educational programmes for ISB students. These projects are not traditionally included in the School’s budget and enrich the programmes taught throughout the School.
The Helping Hands Programme is an AISB service whereby teachers requesting specific, curriculum-based support are connected with parents willing to volunteer their time, talent and expertise.
