English as an Additional Language (EAL)
The main role of EAL is to equip students to cope successfully with the mainstream curriculum. At ISB, we have specially trained EAL teachers and dedicated EAL departments in the Junior and Senior Schools to help students who are not yet proficient in English.
The EAL programme helps students in one or more of the 4 skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. These students are grouped within their grade levels and, as best as can be arranged within the schedule, according to their abilities.
In addition, EAL may provide in-class support to Senior School students in their Humanities and Science classes.
EAL is not offered in High School.
