Clubs and Organisations
We have a lively student body at ISB where students are encouraged to step forward and take on varied positions of leadership and responsibility.
Junior and Middle School Student Voice and High School Grade Representatives
These student representatives provide a way for their peers to express concerns, opinions and suggestions about issues affecting aspects of student life. 2 representatives are elected from each homeroom from Grades 4 to 10. In High School, 2 male and 2 female students represent each grade. Their duties include eliciting students’ ideas, concerns and needs, and raising the issues with the appropriate school section Principal or Head of Years, supporting new students to the School, participating in the running of vital school programmes, leading assemblies and supporting Student Council activities. These student representatives meet regularly throughout the school year.
Student Council
The Student Council devotes their time and energy to improving the social environment of the School. The council is composed of one elected representative from each homeroom from Grades 4 to 12. In Senior School, there is an Executive Committee comprising a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms and a Staff Advisor. The Executive Committee, Homeroom Representatives and their Advisor work together giving unity and fun to the School by arranging activities and fund raising events for their fellow classmates.
The Student Council meets throughout the school year to discuss, plan and co-ordinate upcoming events. In addition to the standing student groups at ISB, student representatives are also sought to provide student input for specific projects. In the past, students have participated as team members to offer input into the Student Dress Code, the School’s Mission and Philosophy, changes to the food choices available in the Culinarium, Graduation and the IB MYP Celebration Evening.
Model United Nations (MUN)
MUN is a unique opportunity for our students to experience the inner workings of the United Nations. Student delegates focus on various topics of interest from children’s rights to climate change mirroring the real United Nations Assembly sessions. Issues are presented, discussed and debated, resolutions are then passed, allowing delegates to participate in a thoroughly invigorating environment while having a taste of what it must feel like to be a governing leader in tomorrow’s world.
