College and Career Counselling

Welcome from the College and Career Counsellors. In Senior School, we provide a host of services to help prepare each student realise their potential and fulfill their further educational aspirations. After graduation, the majority of ISB students continue their education in English-speaking universities/colleges in the United Kingdom, the United States or Canada. Many pursue their tertiary education in their home countries. Completing the university selection process is one of the most important tasks faced by High School students and their parents. Ideally this can be a very exciting and rewarding time, leading to acceptance at a university where the student will be happy and successful.

We help to facilitate this process through these services:

• Grade 10 students begin their University and Career Planning with the Morrisby Profile, an objective aptitude and personality measurement along with an interest questionnaire administered by one of our College Counsellors.
• Grades 11 and 12 students meet in groups and individually with the College Counsellors to help with college selection and the application process. Parents are also invited for individual meetings with the Counsellors.

We also offer:

• Preparatory Courses in SAT and IB
• University Information Evening to help students and parents familiarise themselves with the application process.
• University Tours where University representatives visit ISB and large college tours at nearby schools are arranged. Guidance is available on the handling of personal interviews including mock interview sessions with experienced interviewers.
• Mentoring programme where students are paired with mentors to allow them to find their own solutions and career paths.
• Resources where students may reference many universities around the world.
• Transcripts from Grades 9-12 are provided as part of the university application procedure.
• ISB is an authorised SAT Test Center where the SAT and PSAT exams are offered.

Students are strongly advised to consider their strengths and interests carefully, and to base their university selection decisions on thorough research. The best decisions are usually well-informed decisions. With this in mind, ISB has a selection of reference materials to aid students in their college search.
