- Cub Scouts
Cub ScoutsPack 681 is part of the transatlantic group of the Boy Scouts of America. We are a very active pack of around 50 boys aged 6-11 (Grade 1–5) and parents who meet about once a fortnight on Saturday mornings at the ISB Aesch campus. Typically, the year’s main activities would include:- summer and winter camping trips for the older boys in Grades 4 & 5 (Webelos 1 & 2 ) to Kandersteg, the International Scout Centre
- family hikes in the beautiful Swiss countryside
- the annual Blue & Gold dinner to celebrate the boys’ achievements and reflect on the many events of each den and the whole pack
- Pinewood Derby, where the boys get to show off their imaginative car creations in the fun car race event
- Wacky Olympics, a healthy and fun way to enjoy fitness and work as a team
- Basel Stadtlauf, the city run of 1-1.5km normally held at the end of November to celebrate the start of the Christmas light-up and festivities
- Fund-raising at the School’s International Festival usually in the form of a bouncy castle at this spring event.
Cub Scouts is a wonderful way for all English-speaking boys and their families to get connected and have fun together away from school while they explore Basel and the Swiss outdoors. The boys will learn many new skills as the develop citizenship, leadership and teamwork skills.
- Boy Scouts
Boy ScoutsThe Group has roughly 35 boys aged 11 to 18 representing 9 countries. Our troop is boy-led and adult supported, so the boys decide what to do and the adults help them make it happen. Our program focuses on outdoor activities and developing leadership. Besides weekly troop meetings on Wednesday evenings, we also have 1 monthly outing. In the past 12 months our outings have included an igloo weekend in Kandersteg, an urban campout in Paris, a family ski weekend in Adelboden, an international scout camp in Bernkastel-Kues, Mosel (Germany), a bike ride around the Thunersee, a training weekend in the Black Forest, a summer camp in Kandersteg and many hikes and campouts in the Drei Länder region. We also support our local community with service projects. If you are interested in joining or would like more information please contact Steven Crump.
- Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
The Basel Girl Scouts looks forward to welcoming you to our group. We are a team of parent volunteers and we are always looking for new Girl Scout members and troop leaders. If you are interested in learning more please contact Sam Elwell. For more information about Girl scouts please go to: www.girlscouts.org
