IB Diploma: Stories behind the numbers

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, we are very proud of our students' academic results. But we are even prouder of their individual journeys and the efforts each and every of them deploys to reach these results.

In this interview, Patricia talks about the many challenges she had to overcome during her IB years, including health issues and several surgeries. Her grit and determination gave her the strength to stay focussed and never give up. Tenacious, funny and honest, she shares her personal experience and gives advice to future IB Diploma students.

Watch the video to find out about her journey.

About me My name is Patricia, and I was born and raised mostly in America, but I am also half Portuguese. I came to ISB in grade 9 (2017). At the time, I was not very confident I would even graduate due to health issues. As I learned to form bonds with my peers, I also grew very fond of teachers and staff, particularly the intensive need's teachers, which opened a lot of opportunities for me as a student. I was able to combine two passions of mine: Theater and teaching intensive needs students. My experience led to an internship in my current gap year, where I work with some of the students in the intense needs programme.I got to experience my interests and explore who I want to be as a person. I had a lot of support from my teachers throughout the years and can never thank them enough for helping me graduate my DP courses.
