Our School in 2 mins

Three Campuses, One School

Junior School | 3 – 12 years

Middle School | 12 – 14 years

Senior School | 14 – 19 years

ISB is the only school in the Basel region to offer all three programmes of the highly regarded International Baccalaureate programme in English: Primary Years Programme (Early Childhood to Grade 5); the Middle Years Programme (Grade 6 to 10); and the Diploma Programme (Grade 11 & 12).

The IB programmes are recognised among the best school programmes in the world, developing the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills required of students to live, learn and work in a rapidly changing world. Our students are also well prepared to transition to other schools around the globe when family circumstances necessitate a move to another city or country.

To reinforce our strong academic programme, ISB also offers students a comprehensive wellbeing programme, with a strong team of counsellors and school psychologist who support students' social and emotional need to ensure long-term self-esteem and confidence in themselves.

As an inclusive and non-selective school, ISB supports students with additional learning needs as well as students requiring additional support in English. Our support team also includes a speech therapist, counsellors and a school psychologist.

ISB seeks to offer all students a broad and holistic education. It is often outside of the traditional classroom that the more formative learning takes place. For this reason, ISB offers a multitude of activities ranging from sports to arts (music, drama and visual arts), clubs and activities to service learning opportunities and much more - all geared towards delivering a well-rounded, balanced education to our young people. The extra-curricular program, along with the academic program, are designed to enhance every student’s ability to make meaningful contributions to society.

ISB teachers and students come from all corners of the world, creating a unique educational environment. There is a fascinating mix of long-term students and teachers as well as new arrivals. We are a learning community of dedicated educators, supportive families and happy students guided by our inspirational Mission.

We would love to have you join us.

ISB History

In 1979, Janet Galli, an entrepreneurial American, founded International School Basel (ISB) with 15 students. Her vision for the creation of a local international school was the beginning of ISB as we know it today.

ISB continues to grow and expand its academic and extra-curricular offerings and welcomes our more than 1200 students on three purpose-built campuses.
