Expedition 2023 - Summary
Since the Award began in 1956, its aim has been to help young people plan and undertake their own programme of activities to develop themselves mentally, physically and emotionally.
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is widely recognised by employers and education providers as the definitive qualification for demonstrating self‐reliance, commitment and dedication. All this, and a lot of fun along the way.
More information on the Award can be found on the official Duke of Edinburgh International Award website.
Three Levels
International School Basel offers the Bronze and Silver levels.
The Four Sections

Reflections from participating students
"The DoE Award programme has had a lot of impact on me. It has made me become a more resilient and hard-working person. I have learned a lot about planning and executing a hike, such as how to read a map, use a compass and make food with a Trangia in the rain. I really enjoyed building better relationships with the people in my group and having them there with me during the hike. Although it was a struggle as we got lost a couple of times, we were able to push through and succeed as a group. From this experience, I have learned the importance of working together and trusting your group members, and this is something I will remember for the rest of my life."
