Find out the right grade level for your child based on their date of birth and the equivalence in other school systems. Students joining during the school year will be placed in the grade they have just completed in their previous school. All students must graduate from Grade 12 before their 20th birthday.
The following criteria will be considered when reviewing your application:
Completion of all application forms. All documents need to be in English or be officially translated into English (submit both the original documentation and official translation)
Junior School | EC 1 – Grade 5
We welcome young learners, and up until Grade 2, with no prior knowledge of English. For students joining Grades 3–5, we recommend having some basic English skills to support their learning journey.
Testing for Grade 6 and above Students applying to Grade 6 and above must undertake an online English test to determine their proficiency, which sometimes may include an interview with an ISB staff member. Students at level B1 (Grade 9 and 10) or B2 (Grade 11 or 12) or lower may also have a follow‐up online interview.
Middle School | Grade 6 – 8
Students entering Middle School should have a working knowledge of English to fully engage with the curriculum.
Senior School | Grade 9 – 12
Students entering Senior School must demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English. In some cases, we may offer a tailored curriculum for students enrolled in external intensive English programmes. As their language skills improve, they will transition to the full curriculum
As an inclusive school, we provide tailored learning support for students with mild to moderate learning needs, working closely with families to ensure the right placement and resources are in place to meet the student’s individual needs..
If a student requires additional support, we may offer conditional enrolment, with parents agreeing to specific services to help their child succeed. Any extra costs for these services would be covered by the family.
In rare cases where we cannot meet a student’s needs due to the level of support required, we will explain our decision and guide families toward alternative options that better suit their child.
When enrolling your child at ISB, you must agree to the Terms and Conditions, Fee Structure, and Financial Rules contained in the Financial Regulations below. These regulations replace any previous financial agreements made with ISB.
