Presentation: Susanne will tell, that even though you have decided one path for your high school, it’s never too late to make a change. Today Susanne works in the laboratory of fertility treatment but how did she get there and what is embryology? What else does she do, when working with infertility in couples or women who decide to become a single mom?
Which path today is the most obvious way to go, if you have an interest in embryology and want to study in Switzerland, UK, USA or Denmark?
Biography: When Susanne graduated high school, she had no idea what she wanted to become. As an athlete on the Danish National team of rowing, she was in no hurry. During a gap year she both worked and gained knowledge within biology, physics and chemistry during ½-years courses and began the education to become a biomedical laboratory scientist. After working 7 years within the field of clinical biochemistry she changed to the almost unknown field, fertility treatment. With the knowledge she gained over the next five years, also passing the exam to become certified embryologist, she got the opportunity to use the knowledge to build up a new IVF laboratory in Copenhagen. Leaving this “baby” behind in the summer of 2015, she moved with her family to Switzerland. For her, not with the purpose to work, but with the personal opinion that if she wanted to work - it would be possible. And she was right, since May 2017 she has been back in the field of fertility treatment.
