Graduation 2020
Due to the extraordinary situation, it is with great regret that we are not able to hold our in-person Graduation Ceremony originally planned for 6 June 2020. To honor the incredible hard work and accomplishments of our graduating students, Graduation 2020 will occur in two parts:
- An online celebration on 13 June 2020 and additional graduation traditions to honor our graduates.
- An in-person Class of 2020 celebration, currently scheduled for 8 August. The planning committee will be sending out more details this summer. We look forward to gathering again as one.
Please contact seniorschool@isbasel.ch with any questions.

ISB Graduation Traditions
ISB Graduation Traditions
ISB's Class of 2020 has had a lot of firsts this academic year including not having to sit the official IB exams in May; not being able to go on their Senior trip to celebrate their hard work and dedication; and now having to participate in a virtual graduation. At ISB, it has always been tradition that graduates get a photograph of themselves taken with their diploma, sign the Graduation book and receive a gift bag on behalf of the school and the Community Association. This year will be no different, with students getting the chance to participate in ISB Graduation traditions as well, albeit following a different procedure than normal. Families have received a separate message regarding the details for these events.
Presentation of Diplomas
Graduates were presented with their Diplomas on Wednesday, 3 June at the the ISB Reinach Campus.
Student Photograph
We are delighted to announce that our Graduation photographer Howard Brundrett (www.howardbrundrett.net) will be coming to ISB to photograph our Seniors on Wednesday, 3 June.
Students are encouraged to dress up for their personal Graduation photograph. Their personalized and signed diplomas will be available if they wish to be photographed with them in hand.
Graduation Book Signing
Graduation Gift Bags
In keeping with tradition, each senior received a graduate gift bag as a leaving gift from ISB and the Community Association. Students collected the gift bags on Wednesday, 3 June from the ISB Reinach Campus.
Grade 12 Awards Virtual Assembly
On 2 June, we will hold our Grade 12 Awards Virtual Assembly at 15:00. We are looking forward to honoring our Grade 12 students at this annual event with departmental and school wide awards given to them by their teachers.
Can't make it on 2 June at 15:00? No problem, click the link below to access the recording of the Virtual Assembly. Password: 0r!8x$Mm

Meet our Class of 2020
We invite you to visit the special showcase of some of our Grade 12 students on Instagram or below celebrating the students of the Class of 2020 and what they intend to do after graduation. This is an initiative by five Grade 12 students to celebrate their peers and is optional for student participation.

Most likely to be smiling (and have done her homework!). Thanks for being such a great student. Good luck in the USA, go spread the cheer. I wish you every success.
Carl Banham, Economics HL
Emese, your love of poetry and drama - makes me smile.
Mark Collier, English A Language and Literature HL
You were always committed to doing your best all the time - and always willing to assist others!
Richard Green, Economics HL
Congratulations, Roma. You are truly incredible and it was a joy to have taught you. You will be missed by everyone.
Raman Gandhi
You have shown a never ending pool of energy, Rupa, arriving for class on perfect time and taking notes with all details. Your smile was always present.
Monika Jehle, Biology HL
Vera, thank you for being curious and being open to new perspectives. You were always willing to consider new ideas while also being both pleasantly surprised and excited by new insights. This approach to learning will be so important as you start your next stage of education. I wish you all the best.
Brent McAvoy, English A Literature HL
Thank you Pablo for always being the first to laugh at my jokes - they were really bad at times! I would like to dedicate Erlina Ronda’s quote 'Just like the games we play, the fun in learning mathematics is the challenge!'
Beatrice Merton, Mathematics HL
Anja Bousquet, German A Literature SL
Thank you for bringing ‘the music of reason’ (JJ Sylvester) back into the Mathematics HL class. It's not all Complex and Logarithmic!!
Beatrice Merton, Mathematics HL
Sam, you have been a great example of steadfast work in our class. You always contributed and took a mature approach to what you do. You might have broken a DP Music record for doing the most quality work in the last 3 or 4 weeks and I mean that in a positive way. You did what it took to complete everything as you wanted it to be. Well done! Best of luck and please come back and visit us.
Steven Dube, Music HL
Elena your way of learning is so admirable - focused, patient, thoughtful, helpful. Thank you for all you brought to Psych and I am so happy to see you head towards the brain. Good luck!
Ginelle Stutt, Psychology HL
Anja Bousquet, German A Literature SL
Sonja, you made our English class very special, indeed. Watching you progress was a true highlight. Best of luck to you!
Ginelle Stutt, English B Language Acquisition HL
Valeria, I loved how you would answer any Psych question thrown at you, but you would always kindly wait for others, too. You have such a kind way to go about doing things and I'm so glad I could learn with you these past two years.

Eric, thank you for your quiet and unassuming approach, for being pensive and considered in your responses. A pleasure to listen to your thoughts and ideas.
Mark Collier, English A Language and Literature SL
Now you have found your creative voice, I expect to hear lot more of it on stage and screen in the coming years! Good luck with everything that is coming next and grasp every opportunity with both hands!

I'm sure there is a stage somewhere, just waiting for you to tread its boards. You have the talent, the energy, the drive and the passion, so make the most of whatever comes next. Thank you for all you have contributed to the drama programme at ISB - Calamity was a star vehicle for a star!

Most sociable Econ student. Getting the job done with a smile and a laugh. Always happy to help. I wish you every success in the future.

Thank you for your energy, your positive and happy disposition on every occasion, and for all the wonderful talents you have shared with us during your time here. Good luck William - we will miss you but I am sure you will make the most of whatever comes next.
Julia McKelvey, Theatre HL

Ginelle Stutt, Psychology SL
I have said it before but I will say it once more: You are the one making your own life, and you are doing it in a very courageous way. Just don't forget that some people actually give good advice, you just have to pick who you listen to and what you need.
Stéphane Thaize, French A Language and Literature SL
When class was about to start, for sure you, Marlous, would be there first with such a friendly greeting and smile. I wish you all the best.
Monika Jehle, Biology SL

Jennifer Baldacci, Biology HL
I have to say I enjoyed your willingness to throw your ideas into a public space because you wanted to move the discussion forward and respectfully challenge others. Though I believe that you did this as much to challenge others, as to challenge yourself. To give and take. This is truly how we learn - it can never by one-sided. As this has been your approach, you will certain find success at the next stage. I wish you all the best and do hope you select Acadia.
Brent McAvoy, English A Literature HL
Always just getting on with it... good luck for the future Stefano. I'm sure you'll do great!!!!
